Hi Happy Quilter! Wow, the time sure flies when you’re having fun! And that is what we’ve been doing at A Piece In Time...having fun sewing! Even as busy I am, I have been getting lots of projects completed, and I feel the benefits of being back at my machine!
With my medical background, I thought summer would be a great time to offer some clinics to help you keep your quilting in optimal health! So you will find lots of health related tips for yourself and your sewing throughout this newsletter. Check out the Clinic sessions on page 14 of our newsletter.
As Spring has sprung, there are lots of fresh new things going on around the shop...Everyone here has been creating new quilt kits for your Spring and Summer sewing enjoyment! Come check out Eunice’s table runners of the month. Lynn and Elaine have been creating sweet little kits for the babies and toddlers in your life--great grandma and shower projects. New fabrics are rolling in, (and rolling out quickly! so come in often!) New books and patterns are making quick appearances. Have you seen our new Bella Bag using easy to use curtain grommets...we can’t keep it in stock! This is a must have for your summer wardrobe. And what better gift to give your secret sister or quilting friend than an adorable cupcake hotpad from our sweet little kits!
There are tons of classes in this schedule. Eunice is taking on some of Sandy’s Use It Up classes for the summer, and sprinkling in some very special quilts of her own. Be sure to stop in to see all the gorgeous samples hanging around. (We love our high ceilings as we feature a new “quilt show” every class schedule! Stop in often for inspiration!) Linda is leading the way with embroidery classes, including Jenny’s Heritage Quilt in Embroidery Club. Charlotte is teaching men, women and kids how to sew, and they are having a ball!
We are starting Kaleidoscope of Kolor again in June. So, for those of you that missed it the first time around, now is your chance! We have limited kits in certain colors, so register early.
Kwik Sew is helping us sponsor a Summer Sewing Challenge! We are excited to see your jacket creations. We are also challenging girls to create a fun summer skirt! Check out page 8 of our newsletter for details.
Charlotte, Linda and I headed to Bernina Training for even more in-depth study on Bernina machines. We are so impressed with the company, the machines, and the support we get for our customers! Come in and check out these quality sewing machines. We know you’ll be impressed as well. Of course, we continue to sell Pfaff and Elna machines as well. We offer something for every budget and skill level!
Chris has been at it again, planning another wonderful retreat with Cindy Casciato at the nearby Holiday Inn on Arlington Ridge. Register quickly as our Spring retreat was a sell-out!

Skill Levels – To ensure your success, classes have been identified as follows:
- Level 1 Has a sewing machine and knows how to operate it
- Level 2 Can quickly and accurately rotary cut without assistance. Maintains 1/4" seam allowance without help.
- Level 3 Knows most fast machine piecing techniques, strip piecing, etc.
- Level 4 Intermediate skills.
