Civil War Chronicles Quilt Civil War histories so often focus on the military commanders who led various battles. But, who were the women married to these leaders, and what sacrifices did they endure as their husbands went off to war? The answers can be found in Civil War Chronicles, the newest Civil War commemorative quilt project which tells the stories of twelve women who encountered their own struggles on the home front while their husbands were away. You will enjoy learning about these interesting women who shared in the struggle, representing both sides of the battlefield. As a special treat, Mike, our Civil War reenactor, will join us to share his wealth of knowledge on the military commanders who were married to these strong women. Meet Mike’s wife, Barbara and her friend, Connie, who are also reenactors. Learn about the period clothing and where to see the reenactments. By the same designers as our Civil War Tribute BOM, this project runs for 12 months and measures 108” x 108”. It is breathtaking and easier to construct than “Tribute.” We will start the program in February, 2011. Due to the popularity of “Tribute” and our expected “sell out” status of “Chronicles,” please register now. A $40 deposit is required, which will cover your last month’s block, once all other blocks are purchased. Eleven monthly blocks are each $25. Classes will meet (usually) the second Saturdays, 11 AM-1 PM: Feb 12, Mar 12, Apr 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, Aug 13, Sept 10, Oct 8, Nov 12, Dec 10, 2011 and Jan 14, 2012 |
