2011 $5 Samplers2012 SAMPLERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY! Get Ready...we have lots of fun in the works!
February kicked off another year of amazing sampler quilts, but you can join anytime! We have several exciting offerings for you this year. Block of the Month programs let you work on a quilt a little at a time and build your skills as you go. Because many of you are looking for inexpensive ways to make patriotic quilts to donate to veterans or returning soldiers, we’ve created our Patriotic Patchwork and Patriotic Appliqué programs. We’re excited to offer you this opportunity to assemble these quilts for loved ones or to donate. Our $5 sampler programs typically work this way: After registering and paying the $5 for your first block kit, bring it back the next month, completed, and your following month’s block kit will be only $1, or $5 if your previous block isn’t complete. (You’ll see these listed below as the “$1 if you finish, $5 if you don’t!” program.) Other blocks/programs, including patchwork and appliqués, are priced as listed below. Patriotic Patchwork: $1/$5 program This fun collection of patchwork blocks will help you celebrate and honor our veterans and servicemen and -women in a special way. 12” blocks Red, White and Blue (from brights to shades) Patriotic Appliqué: $8 per block, incl. background Add a splash of appliqué to your Patriotic Patchwork quilt with these whimsical country appliqués that say USA all the way! 12” blocks Red, White and Blue (from brights to shades) Old Fashioned Sampler: $1/$5 program For those looking for a touch of tradition, we will be using a variety of patchwork shapes and techniques including logs, squares, triangles in various sizes. 12” Scrap Bag Treasures (traditional scrappy) Old Fashioned Appliqué: $8/block, incl. background Coordinating appliqués to accent the Old Fashioned Sampler patchwork blocks. Think crows, birdhouses, bee skeps, flowers, etc. 12” blocks Scrap Bag Treasures (traditional scrappy) Welcome to My House: $8 per block Make a veritable patchwork neighborhood while learning new techniques found in a variety of block designs. Each patchwork “center” is surrounded by a house block. Make the house or just the center as you choose. A true symbol of hospitality! 13”x14” blocks Dark Country (Fall-Tberries-Civil War look) Light Country (Spring-soft parfaits) Prints Charming Sampler: $5 per block This 16-block project is great for beginners and is made from 5” charm squares! In January 2012, you will purchase your 12th 12” block and four half-block spacers, which will cost $10 instead of $5. A setting kit and pattern will be available to purchase. Batik Civil War Thirties There are a few rules for $5 Sampler that we require everyone to abide by, in fairness to all who participate. You must be the one to pick up your block(s) each month. You can not send a friend to get your block. If you miss class, you may pick up your block at another time, but will pay full price for any $1/$5 program block. As a courtesy to everyone, please be on time and in your seat at the posted class times. While we encourage friendships, please keep talking to a minimum so all can hear instructions. You may register for as many quilts/colorways as you choose, however you may only receive one $1/$5 program block per class day. If you wish to receive two $1/5 program blocks per month, you must attend class on Saturday AND Wednesday each month, and listen to the “infomercial” each day.
