2010
$5 Samplers
It’s time for
exciting new blocks and designs! You’re really gonna love our
2010 offerings!
$5 Sampler typically runs in this way: Purchase your block kit for $5
when you start, then sew your block and bring it back the following
month to earn that next month’s block at a reduced price and so
on for the 12 months of the program.
So this year, after registering
and paying the $5 for your first block, bring it back the next month,
completed, and your following month’s block will be only $1, or
$5 if your previous block isn’t complete.
Mothers and Daughters
Patchwork: These pieced blocks have a 6” version of the
same block nested in the centers of a 12” block, which makes for
a very fun design! Available in "Jeweled Tonals,”
or “Black, White and Red,” or “Thimbleberries”
colorways. These will be part of the $1 if you finish,
$5 if you don’t! program.
Girlie Girlz Appliqués:
You’ll love these fun and fresh appliqués of hearts,
flowers, cupcakes and teacups--some of a girl’s favorite things!
These are available in two colorways: “Jeweled Tonals”
or “Thimbleberries” as coordinates for
the original Mothers and Daughters Patchwork. Kits cost only
$8 per block, and include appliqué fabric, backgrounds
and patterns.
In addition to the $1 if
you finish, $5 if you don’t program, we are offering an exciting
$5 monthly patchwork program. Star Struck Patchwork:
Gaze upon the beauty of these heavenly bodies. We’ve gathered
a stunning constellation of stars for this quilt and we know you are
going to love it. First, we are offering it in “Blues
on White” backgrounds which are crisp and clean. Then,
we are taking a different twist with “Pushed Neutrals”
which isn’t your grandmother’s lumpy oatmeal! You’ll
love how the whites, creams, tans and taupes just melt together to give
you a really soft and soothing look. The StarStruck patchwork
blocks will be $5 monthly.
Snowflake Appliqués
coordinate with the StarStruck Patchwork. The appliqués are available
in “Pale Blue on Cream” to coordinate with
the Star Struck Patchwork in Blues on White. The Snowflakes are available
in “White on Neutral,” which work with
the “Pushed Neutrals” Star Struck Patchwork. These
are complete kits, and cost only $8 per block, and include
appliqué fabric, backgrounds and patterns.
You are welcome to register
for as many block programs or colorways as you choose. You are entitled
to earn one $1 patchwork block on Saturday and one on Wednesday, per
month. Any additional patchwork blocks are $5. If you’d like two
$1 blocks per month, register and come to class on both Saturday and
Wednesday each month.

and a cream/earth-tone colorway. Both are simply gorgeous. The black
version is hanging in the shop and the cream one is hanging, waiting

fabric, then pick up your precut $15 kit each month. We have all the

Civil
War Tribute Quilt

As we approach the
150-year commemoration of the American Civil War in 2011, we are participating
in a very special Block of the Month program, CIVIL WAR TRIBUTE. Based
on historic quilt blocks and variations, the beautifully detailed quilt
measures a generous 100" x 112”. The program is conveniently
divided into twelve monthly installments.
The Civil War Tribute quilt
highlights a variety of sawtooth and star blocks, the perfect showcase
for this collection’s many prints. Each of the blocks represents
a major battle fought during the war and recognizes both Northern and
Southern points of view!
Monthly kits will
run $25. A $40 deposit will hold your spot and be credited
toward your last block installments. Details are still coming in on
this program. We’ll start this new club on February 13. Hurry
to register as kits will be limited!

Table
Runner of the Month
A new table runner will be
unveiled on the first of each month. Stop in and see what it is. An
inexpensive kit will be available. No class, no demo. Just take it home
and make it up. Then make more for your friends or to sell to co-workers.
You’ll be able to purchase new kits every month. They are not
expensive, and they sure are pretty! Come on in every month to see each
new design.
January 2010's Runner is from Jeri Kelly's newest book, Every
Month - 12 runners!

Just
Strips Club
We’ve got some great
new projects for you for 2010! You’ll love these new designs using
our wonderfully coordinated jelly rolls, Bali Pops, and other 2-1/2”
strip bundles! If you haven’t joined us for a Just Strips Club
project, don’t be shy...the only thing that is ‘stripping’
is the fabric--we promise!
We meet every month,
usually on the last Saturday from 10-11 AM. You are always
welcome to stay and sew. We feature a beautiful-but-easy quilt design
that uses 2-1/2” precut strips of our lovely fabrics! You decide
on the project size you want to make, then prepay $18 for the
class. When you come to that class, your $18 is applied to
a jellyroll packet of your choice (up to $18) and the lecture and pattern
are FREE. If you’ve signed up for the class then find you can’t
come, you still get your jellyroll, but you pay for the pattern. Those
who don’t sign up cannot purchase the pattern. During class, we
will teach you the current project, including the tips to make the design
quickly and efficiently, then you’ll get to see the exciting ‘reveal’
of the coming project. Please feel free to stay and sew.
Typically, additional fabrics
are required to make the quilt (borders, sashings, backings, backgrounds
or accents, etc.) and more than one jellyroll can be required for larger
sizes, but you are welcome to supply anything that is needed from your
stash after you use up your ‘free’ jellyroll, or just purchase
it here. Sign up early to avoid disappointment. It’s a fun way
to create simple and lovely quilts to keep or give. In addition to jellyrolls,
we offer fabulous Hoffman Bali Pops, which are beautifully coordinated
batik strip packets, perfect for creating our Just Strips Club projects!
Saturdays, 10-11 AM: May 29, skip June, July 31, August 28,
September 25, October 23, November 20, December 18, etc.

From
Marti & Me Club
This
new club is in full swing! Marti Michell’s Perfect Patchwork templates
are some of the best on the market! They have nibbled corners to help
with accuracy.
For just $5/month, payable annually, you can join the “From Marti
and Me Club” and get EXCLUSIVE, limited edition “From Marti
and Me” project patterns that use the Tool of the Month (some
of which you may already own!). Generally, these projects will be wall
hangings, table runners, etc., not full size quilts. The clear, well-written
$7.50 patterns are FREE when you attend the monthly meeting.
Registration for the year is $60. When you come to the Club Meeting,
you’ll get your patterns ($90 value), cookies, a demo, and friendship.
We’ll be doing lots of fun things like handing out Project Completion
Certificates at subsequent meetings which will earn you discounts on
tools, etc.
The Club usually meets the last Saturday of the month, right after Just
Strips Club, but may change slightly depending on Holidays.
Saturdays, 11 AM-1 PM: May 29, Jun 26, Jul 31, Aug 28 etc.

Sew
Club
We’ve wanted to do
this for a while now, and we’ve decided it’s time. So this
year, we are offering to you a monthly sewing club called, simply, Sew
Club.
Each month we will have an
article or item that will introduce a special sewing technique in a
simple-to-make project. We may take a commercial pattern and change
it a bit, just for you. Or we’ll design something ourselves. You
never know what’s coming. But it’s all about SEWING, not
quilting.
There will be a class session
up to 90 minutes long, where we will meet in the classroom to share
the month’s project. It will always be the 4th Wednesday of the
month. Class will be at 10 AM, 1 PM; or 6:30 PM starting in February.
Come with Show and Tell. (It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just
bring it!) You can show up at any of the three time slots. You don’t
have to always come at 10. If you usually come at 10 and one month you’ll
have to come at another time, don’t worry. Just show up.
In addition to all this fun
and education, we are offering members a 20% discount any time you are
in the store. We never discount quilts for sale, consignment items,
class fees or services. But if we buy it to sell it to you, it’s
discountable. Membership in Sew Club is just $40 per year beginning
the day you sign up and pay your dues. Try it out. The discount is worth
the membership fee. Club meets for up to 90 minutes at
10 AM, 1 PM; or 6:30 PM on the fourth Wednesdays of every month:
May 26, June 26, July 28, August 25, September 22, etc.

4D
Software Club
This club is working on a
Block of the Month Quilt. However, you do not need to create a quilt
with these blocks. The main reason to take this class is to learn different
techniques using the Pfaff 4D Creative Suite Software or the Viking
4D Professional Software. The quilt which uses different size blocks
is a bonus to the learning exercises. If you just want to learn how
to use one of modules of the software, check the description of the
techniques used each month. This class normally meets the 3rd Saturday
or last Tuesday of the month from 10:00 to 12:00. But check the dates
below for summer changes. Class fee $15.
Sat May 22nd or Tues
May 25th: Bringing a .jpg picture into 4D PictureStitch creates
a unique work of art, one you will find other uses for. Other parts
of the software we will use are Stitch Editor’s PatternMake feature,
Express Design Wizard and Encore.
Sat June 19th or
Tues June 29th: We will take a .bmp image of a flower into
4D Design Creator and Sketch to create a trapunto flower and add highlights
to it, then finish the design with Encore.
July: Let’s
take a happy summer break! No class this month.
Sat Aug 14th or Tues
Aug 31st: Have you used your Cross Stitch module much? Here’s
your chance to delve into it as we create our block in 4D Cross Stitcher.

Embroidery
Club
We have embarked on making
the blocks for the Jenny’s Heritage quilt by Jenny Haskins. This
quilt is a great way to learn all the wonderful techniques Jenny uses
in her quilts and other projects. You can also make pillows from the
squares, if you do not want to commit to the quilt. If you missed the
first month, do not worry, after every few months, we will take a break
and spend the next class catching up and reviewing the techniques used.
So you can come to all classes or just pop in for a class if the technique
interests you. Please sign up for the class at least two weeks ahead
of time so we know how many are coming and we can email you the supply
list needed for that month. Call the store to order the book which contains
the embroidery designs needed. This club normally meets the 3rd Monday
evening of the month, 6:00 – 9:00 pm. See dates below. Class fee
$10.
May 17th: Our
2nd block uses Jenny’s layered fabric etching technique as well
as embroidered appliqué decoupage and stand-alone lace.
June 21st: Combine
3 dimensional embroidered decoupage, embroidered appliqué decoupage
to make placement of designs easy and then top it off with decorative
stitches to create this beautiful block.
July 19th: Catch-up
class. Let’s take a break from a new block to allow us to finish
last month’s block which has so many parts to complete or for
those who started late, you will be able to create the block you missed.
Aug 16th:
Twelve 3 dimensional flowers sprayed across this block creates a gorgeous
corner block.
Sept 20th: We
will be doing foundation piecing for this block and then filling the
basket with fantasy flowers with lace centers sitting atop embroidered
decoupage leaves.

Gingerbread
Joy
Are you ready for a little
Christmas?? We are excited to have Pat Mills with us starting in September
to share Gingerbread Joy, a sweet patchwork and appliqué sampler.
We offered this one a few years back. Pat completed her project and
it is stunning. She’ll happily guide you through the tips and
tricks. Meets for 6 months on the second Mondays!
Mondays, 6:30-8:30 PM: Sept 13 2010, Oct 11, Nov 8, Dec 13,
etc.

Stitcher's Garden
We are half way
through this fun project and marching on to a wonderful, bright floral
quilt while along the way learning so many ways to use our specialty
sewing machine feet. We hope to start another session in the Fall for
those of you who missed out on this fun project! Here are the details
for the next few month’s meetings. Usually we meet on the 2nd
Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, but check the dates below. ($25
class fee, $5 kit fee (optional))
May 20th:
(3rd Thursday instead of the normal 2nd Thursday.) This 8th month we
will be using a piping foot and a binding tool to add some interest
to the borders of this block.
June 10th: Block 9 will be using the fringe foot to
fill in the centers of our flowers. This is such a fun foot to have
and use to add dimension to your projects.
July 8th: This month we will be doing bobbin work to
create our flowers. Using thicker thread in the bobbin adds texture
and interest to your projects. You will want to get a 2nd bobbin case
to play on our 10th block this month.
Aug 12th: If your sewing machine has a chenille foot
you will want to get one for this month’s block 11. We will be
using Blooming Bias for part of these blocks. If your machine does not
have a chenille foot, your open toe appliqué foot will work.
