Exploding Stars

Eunice’s model is a wintery quilt that she made with Marti Michell’s template set E. This project is a great way to learn about both these template sets and sewing Y-seams. Of course, your project doesn’t have to be wintery. With just three blocks you can make a table runner, but once you learn the tricks for making Y-seams, you just might get carried away! They are not as scary as you might think! $25

Four Patch Weave

Eunice made this quilt using two 5” charm packages that she received as a gift. She designed the quilt to use them. Charm packs are one of those indulgence buys at shop hops and shows that we quilters can’t resist so if you have a couple of them waiting for a project, this may be the one for you. With a little twist and turn in the on-point set, the four patches create a woven effect. It makes a great toddler or lap quilt. $25

Great Aunt Louise's Quilt

This simply stunning quilt is based on a quilt that Sandy was given by her Great Aunt Louise. Eunice did a little research and found that at the time the quilt was made, the block was called Wandering Lover. Sandy’s original quilt was hand pieced, but Eunice will teach you how to use triangle paper to make parts of it. You can change the size if you want but aren’t these tiny pieces charming?! Landscape Quilts

Landscape quilts will help you develop painting skills with fabric. You will learn art concepts like contrast, variation, value, shape, and size relations by using fused and glued fabrics. We will use small textures and graphic prints like stripes, checks, dots, and landscape prints like rocks, bricks, grass, etc. Bring your favorite landscape photo to make into a quilt and learn to be a quilt artist. $45

Making an On-Point Basket Quilt

One of the most interesting ways to arrange quilt blocks is to set them on their points and baskets are some of the most common On-Point quilt designs. Come see how to make basket blocks and how to arrange them on their toes. Learn all about setting triangles and how to cut them. We'll take it slow if you are new to On-Point settings, because we've scheduled 8 hours of class time so you can get everything done with all the help you need. $35

Not a Twister Quilt

This quilt looks a bit like our Lil’ Twister quilt, but it’s made using a template that we’ve had made just for our customers so you can use your 2-1/2” strips if you choose. It is a very frugal way to use your fabric leftovers from bigger projects. There is no waste in this method. $25

One Block Wonder

This quilt is a form of stack and whack, made from a single fabric. The creative part comes in designing the hexagon kaleidoscopes into a striking arrangement. This class will teach you how to make hexagon blocks without inset seams and how to spot a “One Block” fabric from across the quilt shop! Fabric shopping will never be the same. $45

Pinwheel Garden Workshop

This evening workshop will provide you with the cutting and laying out instructions to get this quilt in order for piecing. It's fun, easy and quite addictive. It's a most excellent scrap quilt and one of Sandy's favorites. Her friend Mary Gallaway designed it and you will find it becomes one of your all-time favorites, too. We will schedule a second date and possibly even a third date if necessary to get you finished with this colorful project. You can use some of the Use It Up theory and start a second one after your first one is pieced. $30

The Best Times Quilt

Were you able to see our Jingle Bell Shop Hop quilt? Writing the pattern has taken us a lot longer than we had hoped, but we are finally able to offer you the kit with pattern. If you haven't seen it yet, do come in and gaze upon it. Seeing it will make you realize that this was not just a pattern, it was a booklet. Ties to the Past

A wonderful Tie quilt that doesn’t look like others you might have seen. Honor someone you love using their neckties in this project. There are some tricks to making those slippery silks behave, but Eunice will help you tame them. You will discover that there is a lot of fabric in one skinny tie. $25

Tiny Log Cabins

This quilt will stretch your skills and help improve your accuracy with your scant 1/4” seam allowances. The strips are thin and the blocks are small but the texture of this size of log cabin block quilt is very special. Come in and touch Eunice’s quilt and you’ll understand why you’ll want to make one too. You can make your quilt small or large depending on how much you like the process. Advanced Hand Applique

This class is for those who are still struggling with some aspect of Hand Appliqué. Eunice will help you work out the kinks so you can end up with beautiful work and continue to grow in your appliqué skills. $45

English Paper Piecing Hex Potholders

If you want to try English Paper Piecing, but you don’t want to commit to a Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt just yet, this is the class for you! Eunice will guide you through the process of making these potholders, using a needle, thread, and a little fabric. We have pre-cut paper hexagons in cute little boxes to save you the time used to cut them yourself! $25

Hand Quilting

We’ll cover your best choices for thread, fabric, battings, frames, thimbles, needles and more. Then we will mark, layer and baste together a small quilt. Punch Needle

Punchneedle is a Russian form of embroidery that is like rug hooking in miniature. You need a tool and some floss. It has been around for some time but is enjoying a resurgence among quilters. Cuttin' Class

Are you thinking that you already know how to rotary cut so you’ll just skip over this class? Please don’t. In addition to improving your ability to manipulate your rotary rulers, we will cut quilt block patches using various tools. Also (and most importantly), because this class covers an introduction to quilting rules and ‘laws’, we consider this class or this knowledge a prerequisite for all classes we offer. All our machine piecing classes require that you know accurate, efficient and safe rotary cutting skills. Even longtime quilters remark “why didn’t anyone ever tell me that?” or “I learned more in this class than ever before.” $25

Foundation Paper Piecing with Eileen Sullivan Designs

These designs are a little more complex than those in the Cinnamon Hearts class. Bring your machine and tools from Cinnamon Hearts and see how designs are split and rejoined for more variety. Fabrics and papers provided. $10

I Have a Quilt Top, Now What Do I Do?

We hear it all the time -- “How can I quilt this top? What would YOU do with this top?” Let Sandy take you through the entire thought process to come up with something that does really fit your project. Learn her techniques, then you, too, will be designing and quilting lovely quilts. $20

Machine Applique

This class will focus on both technical and design aspects of machine appliqué. You’ll learn to use a variety of stabilizers and different stitches in the process. We will discuss the different ways to appliqué and why and when it is to your advantage to appliqué by machine. There are some tricks but we will walk you through them so you have success in all your future machine appliqué projects. Knowing how to machine appliqué gives you the ability to put any shape you can imagine, big or small, onto your quilts. We will cover interpreting patterns and making your own designs. $25

Machine Quilting Techniques I (MQT1)

This machine quilting class covers all aspects of using your sewing machine to make the quilting stitches in your quilt sandwich. Learn both walking foot and dropped feed-dog techniques. Gain the understanding of how to quilt, where to quilt and why to use one kind of batting over another to achieve a particular result. This class is loaded with everything you need to know to get off to a wonderful start. We even spend time showing you what doesn’t work and why. Batting Samples included in class fee. $65

Machine Quilting Techniques II (MQT2)

Next Steps

If the precise piecing of BMP frightens you, then skip over it for now and jump right into speedier methods. We will learn Strip Piecing techniques and will build your skills with fast, efficient piecing. All projects are built around skills you already know or are now ready to learn. We’ll do a new project in each class and show you other variations of that project, for many weekends of happy quiltmaking. $60 for all 4 sessions, or $25 individually.

Paper Piecing Stars & Pinwheels

Learn to use foundation papers to create patchwork blocks. Foundations help with accuracy and can be so fun. This project is a good one to practice with as it is repetitive. You’ll progress quickly! $25

Patriot Dreams Machine Quilting Project

We are still making lovely quilts for our veterans returning home. This is a wonderfully simple way to make one from you. Simple Strategies for Choosing Color

Fabric and color selection can be difficult for many quilters. In this class, Eunice will discuss color wheels and how they can help you make good choices, then put it into practice. Serger Club

Do you own a serger, but it just sits in your closet? Perhaps you’ve forgotten how to use it, or you bought it where they didn’t offer you lifetime lessons. Now, you are afraid to change the threading pattern and all you are capable of doing is the stitch it’s set on. Well, fear no more! Dust off that machine and join us every month for a few hours of learning and fun. Not every machine can do what other machines are capable of, but we’ll find a way for you to still have fun with us. Use It Up! Strips of Strings

This quilt is made from the tiniest possible strings that are leftovers. It’s always good when making a scrappy quilt to have a theme. The theme in this quilt is yellow and red with a touch of green.
