Learn how easy it is to paint your own fabric. This is not as messy or time consuming as fabric dying and provides wonderful effects of paint, water, and salt. We will paint the fabric on Friday, then start cutting appliqué pieces Saturday morning. After you learn to paint your own fabric, learn how to cut up this fabric and make wonderful quilts with my Rose of Sharon pattern. This method is a direct, raw edge, appliqué and quilting at the same time.

It is difficult to believe but hand piecing has some advantages over our amazing sewing machines when it comes to piecing. If you have never tried foundation paper piecing and want to try it this is the way to go. These are small commitments. They are usually simple and you can probably find enough fabric in your scrap piles to make quite a few while you learn the technique. The accuracy you can achieve with paper piecing is unmatched so it’s worth trying it without making a commitment to a large project. These can be made into tree decorations, coasters or mini quilts if you put a few of them together.
