“More than Just Cutting” Class Level ALL, Sandy Improve your ability to manipulate your rotary rulers to get just the right cut. We will cut quilt block patches in different shapes, using several tools to produce the same shaped patch. You should leave class able to cut just about anything. Because this class also covers an introduction to quilting, we consider this class or this knowledge to be a prerequisite for all classes we offer. All our machine piecing classes require that you know accurate, efficient and safe rotary cutting skills. Beginning Machine Piecing—BMP Level 1, Sandy Learn to rotary cut pieces (please take our Cuttin’ Class first) and sew them together on your machine to create this classic nine-block wallhanging. We’ve had several students go on to make bed-sized quilts from this class. You will learn sashing, borders, binding and explore quilting options. Meet new friends and have fun on your new adventure! If you are new to machine quiltmaking, this is the place to begin. Electric Quilt Level 2, Eunice If you have either the old EQ5 or the new EQ6, come to class and learn more about it. Maybe you got it for Christmas and need a boost to get you going with it. Bring a laptop to work along, or observe using our projector. $25    • Sunday, 1-4 PM: January 27

Machine Appliqué Level 2, Eunice There are so many different ways to easily add beautiful appliqué to your quilts. We will teach you many different methods and will show you more applications and technique hints than you ever imagined, and we’ll be discussing advantages and disadvantages of each. We’ll also cover a wide variety of stabilizers and more. Choose the method that fits your needs. $25    • Tuesday, 6-9 PM: February 5

I Have a Top, Now What Do I Do With It? (Choosing Quilting Options) Level 2, Sandy Whether you quilt your quilt by hand, or with your personal sewing machine, or your long/mid arm machine, learn what you can do to get specific results. It’s hard to believe, but there are so many different options available to you, and each has a unique result or effect. This is not a technique class to tell you HOW to do the quilting, but more of a design class to cover how to get a particular look or effect. We will cover making designs fit in specific spaces also. $25    • Friday, 10 AM-1 PM: February 8    • Monday, 6-9 PM: March 31

Machine Quilting Techniques Level 2, Sandy Our machine quilting class covers all aspects of using your sewing machine to make the quilting stitches in your quilt sandwich. Learn both walking foot and dropped feed-dog techniques. Gain the understanding of how to quilt, where to quilt and why to use one kind of batting over another to achieve a particular result. This class is loaded with everything you need to know to get off to a wonderful start. We even spend a lot of time showing you what doesn’t work and why. $57 (includes $45 class fee and $12 batting kit).    • Fridays, 6-9 PM: February 8 & 15    • Wednesday, 10 AM-4 PM: February 27

Binding Basics Level 2, Eunice If putting on a binding is a mystery to you, join Eunice and see two different techniques to accommodate most quilt edges. We will have a little quilt already quilted for you when you come to class and you will attach the binding during class. $30 includes kit    • Saturday, 1-4 PM: February 16

Skill Levels – To ensure your success, classes have been identified as follows:

• Level 1  Has a sewing machine and knows how to operate it
  
• Level 2  Can quickly and accurately rotary cut without assistance. Maintains 1/4" seam allowance without help.
  
• Level 3  Knows most fast machine piecing techniques, strip piecing, etc.
  
• Level 4  Intermediate skills.
