A Piece In Time - Quilting and Technology Classes

All software classes use the 4D software that is available from Pfaff and Viking. If you own another brand of machine, you can still use this amazing 4D software to create wonderful designs for your embroidery machine as designs can be created in formats for most brands. Call to set up a time for a software demo.

All you need to attend the 4D software classes is your dongle and a laptop. If you do not have a laptop you are welcome to attend the class and watch, as the lesson is demo’ed on our projection screen. All attendees receive a handout of instructions to take home with them.

4D Embroidery Software Block of the Month

We are finishing up our Block of the Month series in January. Our last block is a large block that will fit in the Grand Dream Hoop. We will show how to split Grand Dream Hoop designs in the software. If you do not have this hoop, no problem as we will also use the Design Aligner to split the design into segments that allow you to stitch out the design in whatever hoop you choose. Even if you have the Grand Dream Hoop, the techniques we will discuss in the Design Aligner module can be used to create and stitch out even larger designs.

Did you miss getting in on the 4D Software Block of the Month?
This series of classes is really the best way to learn so many features of the different modules in the 4D Creative Suite or 4D Professional software. If you only have the 4D Embroidery Extra, techniques are given each month to create a similar block using just the 4D Embroidery Extra module. If you are interested in taking this series of classes, please call the shop and let us know. If there is interest, we will offer the classes again and arrange for a time and day that all of you who would like to take the class can attend. Just let us know.

Basics! Basics! Basics! All 3D and 4D Software Owners!

If you have been afraid to venture into your software or need a review of the 3D or 4D software basics, this is the class for you! We will create two projects in this class which will utilize the basic functions in 3D Embroidery Artist or 4D Embroidery Extra. Creating and editing designs, resizing, using shapes, fonts and Encore are among the techniques that we will use. The designs created will stitch out as a doily and monogrammed coasters. Come see what your software can do. We will also spend time at the end of class to answer any questions you have. $20

Embossed Towel Design

Here is a different way to use 4D Fabric Decorator which is part of the 4D Creative Suite or 4D Professional. Create a design to emboss a name on a towel. You have to see it to believe it. Come into the shop and see our sample. $15

4D Design Creator I and II

So you have tried to create a design using 4D Design Creator, but it didn’t stitch out as well as you would have liked. This class will show you techniques to create a design in the first class. Then you will go home and stitch out the design. On the second class we will discuss ways to modify your design to correct any problems with the original stitch out. $30

Embroidery Club

Each month we will explore another technique to use with your embroidery machine. All embroidery machine brands welcome. You just need to be able to put designs on your embroidery machine. Projects we will be exploring this quarter, include how to embroider on store bought ties, quilting in the hoop, chenille embroidery, and embroidering on paper. Call the store to sign up and get the supply list for the current club meeting. $10 per month
• Mondays, 6-9 PM: Jan 19, Feb 23, Mar 16, Apr 20, etc.

4D Family Portrait...What You Need to Know!

We will try out all of the modules in 4D Family Portrait in two 2 ½ hour classes. This class is free if you bought the software at A Piece In Time. The software is simply amazing! Take photographs of loved ones, pets, flowers, landscapes, … the list goes on and on, and use 4D Family Portrait to create a stitch out of your photograph. The software can be bought as an add on to the 4D Embroidery software or as a stand-alone product. Call to ask for a demo of this new software.

Do you machine embroider?? If so, check out our multi-format CDs from Martha Pullen. Each monthly CD contains instructions for a great project, perfect for gift-giving, and stitch files in many popular formats.
